The Good News from May 18 is now available for download:

This issue includes the article Can less mean more? An experiment has implications for cooking, eating and learning what’s important in life, written by Julia Hicks de Peyster for a recent edition of the Princeton Alumni Weekly.

It was during a discussion on poverty that Julia de Peyster realized something was wrong. Her oldest son, Toby, 12, didn’t know what a food stamp was. “In the suburbs you can go for years without seeing anybody who doesn’t live like you do,” she said. “I think that was a big eye-opener for me.” As Julia searched for a way to illustrate for her three sons how poverty can impact families, she hatched an idea: she’d try and feed her own family on a food stamp budget for Lent.
