Visitation & Funeral for Bishop Shaw: Additional Details

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 31, 4-9 p.m., including the Office of the Dead at 6 p.m., and Compline at 8:30 p.m., at the Monastery Chapel of the Society of St. John the Evangelist (980 Memorial Drive) in Cambridge.

The funeral service, with Holy Eucharist, will be held on All Saints’ Day, Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston.

The liturgy will be shared via video relay to the overflow seating area in Trinity’s undercroft and on Copley Square. Communion will be available to all.

Please enter Trinity Church via the Copley Square doors, which will open at 1:30 p.m. for seating. Those with accessibility needs may use the Clarendon Street door (ramp from St. James Avenue) beginning at 1:15 p.m.

Bishops, priests and deacons who are not service participants will not vest or process, and are invited to sit in the congregation.

A reception will follow the service at the Sheraton Boston Hotel at 39 Dalton Street, which is a 15-minute walk from the church. For those who cannot make the walk, shuttles will run continuously between Trinity Church (St. James Avenue side) and the Sheraton until approximately 5:15 p.m. Coffee, tea and light fare will be served, with a cash bar available.
