Advent Begins…

Dear Friends,

Advent (from the Latin word “adventus” which means “coming”) is a season of the Christian Church when we engage in a period of expectation and waiting in preparation for the coming of Jesus. In the four weeks of Advent we remember both the first appearance of Christ as Jesus in Bethlehem and anticipate the second coming of Christ at the end of times.

Advent is one of two penitential seasons (the other being Lent). But Advent is better thought of as a season of solemn preparation for remembering Christ’s incarnation at Christmas and for anticipating the eschatological fulfillment of his promise to return in power and great glory.

I invite you to expectantly wait with us as we prepare for the coming of Christ in just a few weeks!

-George
