Our neighbor, the Episcopal Parish of the Messiah in Auburndale, is seeking liturgical art for its annual Advent program this December. Interested artists (and others) can get additional information here.

“We are seeking visual artists to create interpretive new works of art in a medium of their choice based on one of the seven lessons of sacred scripture that will be read aloud during our Advent “Lessons and Carols” service to be held on December 2, 2007 at Messiah in collaboration with other area Episcopal churches. This is a unique event at our church in that we do not follow the traditional format but frequently uses multiple art forms to enhance the hearing and interpretation of sacred scripture. As well, the service is intended to help us prepare for the Christmas celebration and foretells the coming of our Savior.

“An informational session will be held at the church at 4 PM on September 8 and September 9 for artists interested in learning more about the project as well as visiting the church to view the space where the works will be installed. The artwork remains the property of the artist but will hang in the church for the four Sundays of Advent.”
