First, thank you to all who ventured out this past Friday night to attend the Cristosal Foundation’s fundraiser and awareness event at St. Mary’s. Nearly forty people from the diocese and community came out to enjoy an evening of wine tasting, and a presentation from Noah Bullock, Executive Director of Cristosal (pictured above). Proceeds from the evening will be used to help fund a Youth Leadership and Women’s Empowerment project at Iglesia San Francisco de Asis in El Pital, Lourdes, El Salvador, an area deeply affected by gang violence.
Second, our own Peter Chase was able to secure over $3200 in funding to support youth development activities in El Salvador, from a donor source in Dubai. Half this will be used to (almost) fully fund the Youth Soccer League at our sister parish Santa Maria Virgen and the community of San Bartolo for this coming year. The other half will go to Cristosal and the Bishop’s discretionary fund to support youth ministries. Thank you to Peter!
