This week we began our Lenten journey. Epiphany ended on a high note with a fantastic Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. Mary Jane Burgess, Alicia Bowman and many others planned a fantastic meal and entertainment. Ash Wednesday was equally moving but substantially more subdued.
The invitation to Holy Lent from the Ash Wednesday service asks that we use the forty days leading up to Easter to prepare for the resurrection by self examination, repentance and prayer. To that end, I am including a link to a daily meditation booklet prepared by members of our deanery clergy and friends. It includes scripture from the day and a brief reflection. Also, following coffee hour each week in Lent, I’ll be leading an adult forum on prayer. This week we will talk about the efficacy of prayer and its origins.
