Sunday marked the first anniversary of George’s service as rector at St. Mary’s. On one hand, it’s hard to believe that it has been a year already; on the other, the universal comfort factor with George makes it seem like he has been here much longer. His leadership style, reflecting clear vision and direction; grounded in sound theology; manifested in pragmatic daily Christian practice and his uncanny ability to meet people where they are at–even on a skateboard; conducted with unfailing equanimity, gentleness and caring; and accented by his engaging personality, good humor and southern ways, remind us of the debt of gratitude we continue to owe our Search Committee for their extraordinary judgment.
