Lenten Series at St. Mary’s Begins on March 9 at 11:15 a.m.

Lenten Series: The Episcopal Church in the News

In this Lenten season, we’ll be talking about some of the ways our Church has appeared in the news in recent months.

This Sunday, following the 10:00 a.m. service, we’ll begin a Lenten Study Series with a discussion of the Election of our new Diocesan Bishop, which will take place on Saturday, April 5.

The process of the election involves introductions to the seven candidates through a series of ‘walkabouts’ which begin in Wellesley on Friday, March 14.. This Sunday we will talk about our diocesan structure, a bit about the seven candidates and the legacy of our retiring Bishop, the Rt. Rev. M. Thomas Shaw.

I’ll have copies of the biographical information and essays from the candidates and would love to hear your thoughts on what kind of person you’d like to see leading the diocese.

The diocese has a separate website http://mabishopsearch.org/ which offers lots of information about the process.

On upcoming Sundays we’ll discuss Trinity Church’s purchase of a 3.6 million dollar rectory and the role of the church in political debates around the country.
