On Palm Sunday, April 17, the music will take us from the “Hosannas” of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to the cries of anguish at the Cross. The service will begin with a call to Jerusalem, The Holy City, sung by alto soloist Lynn Edwards. The Adult Choir will sing the German motet Surely He Hath Borne our Griefs and the South African song Senzeni na (What Have We Done?).
Maundy Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 pm the choir will lead Passiontide hymns and sing Mozart’s Ave verum as we remember the Last Supper and strip the altar in preparation for Good Friday.
On Easter Sunday April 24, the sounds of brass and organ will fill the sanctuary as we celebrate the resurrection. The Adult Choir, accompanied by trumpeter Ken Laing, will sing anthems by Craig Courtney, Jeffrey Rickard, and Healey Willan. Guest flutist Wilhelmina Ulbrich will join the choir in Easter Carol by Richard Proulx. Congregation and choirs together will sing Easter hymns. Please join us on this festive day!
