Dear Friends,
Last winter, I received a large number of requests from our neighbors for financial assistance for food. I took my concerns to the outreach committee, which led to a year long focus on hunger. As a group we looked at ways to both support our area food pantries and learn about the complex issues that cause this problem.
As part of our exploration of the issue of hunger, a trip has been organized to The Greater Boston Food Bank for this Saturday morning, October 29. Our work will be between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and is open to parishioners over 16 years of age.
The GBFB distributes more than 34 million pounds of food and grocery products to 550 member hunger-relief agencies and 30 Food Bank direct service programs throughout eastern Massachusetts. This food assistance reaches 545,000 people annually or about 8% of the population of Eastern Massachusetts.
If you would like to join us, please contact Mary Ellen McAndrews or by calling St. Mary’s at (617) 527-4769.

Please Note Deadline: If you are able to participate, please contact Mary Ellen McAndrews or the church by Thursday, October 27 before 2:00 p.m.
